NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service

Status Tracked

The NSW agency whose web application, containing historical information and data on fires, an OpenAI model entered, on the NSW Government's account; both NSW and OpenAI date the incident to June 2026. The NSW Government says OpenAI reported it on 1 October 2026. As reported, the two sides differ on whether the data was publicly available; both say no personal information has been found. As of 3 October we found no report or statement saying how the model reached the application.
